  Child Seat Safety

Fact: 98% of all Child Seats are improperly secured or positioned!!!

Since obtaining his certification, he has checked/installed over 300 seats.

...and has found only 1 in correctly!

The Bridgewater Fire Department now has the ability to install Child Safety Seats. On certain days we welcome you to come to either of our stations.  Please call Headquarters at (508)697-0900, to find out which station to visit.

As of today we have one Nationally Certified Child Passenger Safety Technician. Firefighter and Paramedic Sean Peters who currently works on Group One days at either station is more than happy to help you ensure the safe transport of your children.

As of July 10th, 2008, the Child Seat Laws have changed. All children under the age of 13 are urged to be placed in the back seat. Under these laws it is now mandatory for all children under 4'9" or under the age of 8 years old, MUST be placed in either a no-back or high-back booster seat in the backseat. The new height and age requirements have been issued by the federal government and will be enforced very strictly. For some children who have just gotten out of a booster, they may have to be placed back in.

This program here at the Bridgewater Fire Department is only in it's infantile stages. All of us here have very high hopes for this program. We are currently out gathering donations to help supplement the costs of supplies and to assist with further education, both for our firefighters and for our citizens. We predict this program will be a huge success. We ask that you either call the number above, or email Firefighter Peters to schedule an appointment at speters@bridgewaterfirefighters.com. Be aware that we are a busy 911 service. Some appointments may be compromised due to call volume. We will do our very best to be there, and to assist and educate both your child and you.  If you wish to assist us with the program, donations can me made to the Bridgewater Firefighters Union 2611.  All donations will go directly into this program!  Please call or speak with Firefighter Peters directly for more infomation.

Please call the number below the morning of, or just before coming down, to ensure that we can assist you.
